Expedition update: Day 49

89.2ºS, 24.1km travelled

A clear day and great weather conditions up on the plateau for Lucy and the team, getting a good distance in despite the effects of altitude now they are at 2700m+ altitude. (Although land height at the south pole is only around 135m, the rest of that is all ice…)

Fingers crossed the conditions continue and give a smooth final few days to the pole.

The circle on the zoomed in map is the last degree of latitude and represents 60 nautical miles or 111km from the pole.
